Beethoven Project: Danubia Orchestra plays for the hearing-impaired

The orchestra commemorates Beethoven’s 250. anniversary with a unique artistic endeavor: the ensemble brings music to those who most share the misery of the legendary composer: people living with hearing loss.

In a series of concerts, the orchestra employs a selection of physical instruments and special aids that transmit the vibration of sounds, enabling audiences who are hard on hearing to experience music in a particular way. These appliances include special contact speakers and other devices, and the audience can even choose to sit on stage among the musicians. Budapest Music Center hosts the concerts of Beethoven Project from February to May. Admission is free, and pre-registration is required at the Danubia’s web site.

Danubia Orchestra, based in Budapest’s District 3, aims to share high-quality classical music with the widest audience possible.
